Hinsdale Home – Project Completed! (Part I)
It’s been a long journey for our client and our designers. This was not just a decorating project, but a complete home remodeling project. Our client had hired a local contracting company to put in addition on the back of their home, ultimately expanding their existing kitchen. She loved the entire concept and the layout of the kitchen but wanted our input on the final finishes of the cabinetry, design details, hardware, and other selections to tie the space together.
We had made several changes such as the cabinetry color and adding architectural elements such as corbels, arches, and decorative details to the existing cabinetry design. We had also suggested dropping a beam in the center of the kitchen slightly lower than first suggested to create an architectural detail. This would also hide the existing steel beam that supported the new addition.
The granite we selected for the perimeter was a textured tropical stone. We incorporated a tumbled travertine tile backslash with a few decorative detail tiles to add some dimension. Add cream Delicatus granite with double thickness on the island, and this is what you get:
We selected rustic, old-world cabinetry hardware to complement the gorgeous Fine Art chandeliers throughout the room.
There is no better way to complete an old-world inspired space without adding warmth to the walls with a great Tuscany-inspired plaster finish
We were looking to bring out the richness and the depth of the hardwood floors when deciding on a stain color in this home, and it was all accomplished by choosing a dark coffee bean stain with a quality water-based finish.
No kitchen would be complete without our signature Linly Designs copper farm sink, which is actually what started it all!
We are experts in the finishing touches! 60″ round hand-scraped dining table, gorgeous leather/fabric banquette with complimenting chairs, leather nailhead studded bar stools, and window treatment fabrics that brought all the drama into this stunning, yet practical, Hinsdale kitchen.
Here are the dramatic before & after shots!
